About the Author
Fiona Dieffenbacher came from Belfast, Northern Ireland, to study fashion at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York City. While at Parsons, Fiona won numerous awards, worked for Donna Karan and was mentored by both Michael Kors and Anna Sui. In 1998, after 10 years of honing her design skills in the industry as a knitwear designer, she opened her own boutique showcasing her ready-to-wear collection under the label 'Fiona Walker'. Her collections were retailed at Henri Bendel, and selected boutiques across the US and Japan. After shuttering her business in 2005, Fiona’s path led back to Parsons, where she is now Program Director of the BFA Fashion Design course.

A Definite Must Read

Just received this book and already, in the first several pages, I am amazed at the wealth of information. This book is a mind and eye opener to approaching process of fashion design. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in any stage of their fashion design journey, especially if they are just beginning. So happy I invested in this book and look forward to the additional knowledge to come!

Solid 21st Century advice for designers

This book is exactly what the fashion world needs more of: it is open minded. Instead of offering prescriptions on how to design, it is filled with case studies of how many different designers approach fashion. Easy to read, clear and concise. Fantastic images throughout the book.

I would recommend this book to any creative mind

I wish I had this book my last semester at Parsons School of Design. Creating a portfolio for me was very difficult, 3 collections, 3 concepts in a 15 week course. I was tense, and worried the entire semester; simply because I did not quite understand how to work through the process. This book answers the nagging question of what next?

I would recommend this book to any creative mind, who just needs help to channel their creativity.
